Ingredients
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
4 egg yolks
3 cups milk or half-n-half
1/4 cup butter or margarine
2 tsp vanilla
Preparation
Combine sugar and cornstarch in large saucepan over medium heat. Gradually whisk in egg yolks and milk. Cool mixture, whisking often, 12 minutes or until thickened. Bring to boil and cook, stirring constantly for 1 minute. Remove from heat, stir in butter and vanilla. Cover and chill 6 hours.
