Ingredients
3 eggs beaten
1 1/2 cups sugar or Splenda
1 1/2 cups Crisco (melted and cooled)
3 cups dates (cut into small pieces)
1 cup walnuts (chopped)
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 cup confectioners sugar ( for covering finished squares)
Preparation
Melt the Crisco and cool. Beat eggs, add sugar, cooled Criso and mix well. Add the chopped dates and nuts. Sift all the dry ingredients, add to egg mixture and mix well. Pour batter into a greased 13 X 9 pan for thick squares or an 11 x15 pan for thinner squares. I use the 13x9
Bake in an 350 oven for 40 -45 minutes. When toothpick comes out clean there done.
Cool and cut into squares 1" x 1" Put confectioners sugar in a plastic and dust squares several at a time.
