Ingredients

4 sticks Butter- room temp

3 cups granulated sugar

8 eggs separated

1 tp salt

8 cups small chopped dates

3 cups small chopped nuts ( your choice)

4 tp vanilla

4 cups vanilla

Powder sugar

Preparation

  1. Cream butter and granulated sugar
  2. Add egg yolks, salt, dates, nuts and vanilla beat well.
  3. Add flour 1/3 at a time blend well
  4. Set aside
  5. In a separate bowl beat egg white till firm peaks.
  6. Gently fold egg whites to batter.
  7. Pour batter into a baking sheet.
  8. Bake 300 degree 45 minutes.
  9. Remove from oven. Let rest about 15 minutes. Cut into 1" squares and roll in powder sugar while still warm.
  10. Store in a tin container in a cool place.
