Ingredients
4 sticks Butter- room temp
3 cups granulated sugar
8 eggs separated
1 tp salt
8 cups small chopped dates
3 cups small chopped nuts ( your choice)
4 tp vanilla
4 cups vanilla
Powder sugar
Preparation
- Cream butter and granulated sugar
- Add egg yolks, salt, dates, nuts and vanilla beat well.
- Add flour 1/3 at a time blend well
- Set aside
- In a separate bowl beat egg white till firm peaks.
- Gently fold egg whites to batter.
- Pour batter into a baking sheet.
- Bake 300 degree 45 minutes.
- Remove from oven. Let rest about 15 minutes. Cut into 1" squares and roll in powder sugar while still warm.
- Store in a tin container in a cool place.
