Ingredients

1 c soft butter

1 c light brown sugar

1 c sugar

1 t vanilla

2 eggs

4 c sifted flour

1/8 t salt

1/2 t soda

Filling:

cut 8 oz dates in small pieces. Bring to boil with 1/4 c sugar, 1/2 c water, and dash of salt. Add 1 c chopped nuts and cool

Preparation

Cream buter, add sugar, vanilla and eggs, beat until light.

Add dry ingredients and mix well.

Chill

Half dough and roll on waxed paper. Spread cool filling over dough. Roll up as jelly roll. Wrap in paper and chill overnight

Slice 1/8 inch thick

Bake at 375 until lightly browned
