Ingredients
1.5 parts cognac (or your favorite brandy)
1 part Cointreu (or try Patron Citronage for interesting change, or triple sec for value)
.75 part fresh lemon juice
.25 part simple syrup*
ice
*I make my simple syrup with equal parts water and Sugar in the Raw brown sugar. Heat sugar and water over medium heat until all the sugar is disolved.
Preparation
Fill a shaker 3/4 of the way with ice. Add all of the ingredients to the shaker, and shake for about 18 seconds. Strain into a martini glass.
You can either float a thinly sliced lemon wheel for a garnish, or drape an orange twist over the side.
Variation: Rim the glass with Sugar in the Raw brown sugar and leave out the simple syrup, or use both if you have a sweet tooth like me.
