Ingredients
1 ripe (black skin) plantain
1 half stick of butter (unsalted)
Chinese Five spice
Brown sugar
Salt
Preparation
Peel plantain and cut in half. Cut each half into 4 long slices (like a pickle). Cut out the seeds if there are alot of them as this can make the plantain texture less pleasant. Lightly sprinkle both sides of plantain with the Chinese Five spice, brown sugar and just a pinch of salt. Melt half stick of butter in skillet and fry plantains until golden dark-brown. Serve in a bowl with a scoop of good quality french vanilla icecream. Serves four M
