Ingredients

1 cup flour

2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp cream of tartar

1/4 tsp sugar

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) cold better, cubed

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/3 cup milk

Preparation

PREHEAT oven to 450

MIX flour, baking powder, cream of tartar, sugar and salt in medium bowl.

CUT in butter

STIR in cheese

ADD milk and stir until soft dough forms

PLACE on lightly floured surface, knead 8 to 10 times until smooth

PAT into 6 inch square, cut into 9 pieces and place on baking sheet

BAKE 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown
