Ingredients
1 small onion, diced
2 T olive oil
1 cup bread crumbs
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup red wine
24 oz (1 1/2 lbs) ground round
1 t oregano
1 t thyme
1 egg
1 t garlic
1/2 cup ketchup, divided in 2
4 t worcestershire sauce, divided in 2
Preparation
Preheat oven at 350. Meanwhile, in medium skillet, saute onions, garlic and oil on medium heat until semi-cooked, about 5 minutes. Place in large bowl. Mix milk, wine and bread crumbs in small bowl, set aside. Add 2 t worcestershire and 1/4 cup ketchup in small bowl, set aside. Add all herbs, egg, 1/4 cup of ketchup and 2 t of worcestershire sauce to onion mixture. Stir in ground round until thoroughly mixed. Fold in bread crumb mixture; do not over mix.
Bake in 9 x 5 loaf pan for 45 minutes at 350. Remove from oven; add worcestershire and ketchup mix. Continue baking for 30 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160. Let sit for 15 minutes before serving.
