Ingredients

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons brandy or rum flavoring

2 1/4 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 cup eggnog

1 cup chopped candied cherries (optional)

1/2 cup chopped almonds (optional)

3/4 cup powdered sugar

approx 1 teaspoon eggnog

Preparation

Cream butter and sugar; add in 1 teaspoon flavoring. In a sperate bowl combine flour, soda, nutmeg, and salt. Add dry ingredients alternately with eggnog to creamed mixture. Stir in cherries and nuts. Spread in greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 18 to 20 minutes. Mix powdered sugar, remaining 1/2 teaspoon flavoring, and enough eggnog to make mixture spreadable. Spread on warm cookies. Cool; cut into bars
