Ingredients
½ c. shortening
½ c. brown sugar
½ c. white sugar
1 beaten egg
1 T water
½ tsp vanilla
¾ c. flour
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 ½ c. quick oats
1 ¼ c. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Preparation
Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg, water and vanilla. Add dry ingredients, then chips and nuts by hand. Drop a scant T of dough onto greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes.
Tip from the friend: When we made these for you, I’m not sure if we added the nuts. But we usually do use pecans. Also, we make them really small which is part of the appeal, I think.
