Ingredients
1 cup butter
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 cup slivered almonds or other nuts
1 cup chocolate chips (milk chocolate)
chopped almonds for garnish (optional)
Preparation
In a large heavy skillet, melt butter and add sugar. Over medium high heat on stove, cook mixture for 6 minutes checking and stirring every once in a while. Don’t leave unattended. When time is up, dump in slivered almonds and pour mixture onto lightly buttered tray or marble slab. Sprinkle chocolate over immediately and spread as soon as melts. Sprinkle with additional nuts if desired and let cool completely before breaking into small pieces. Keeps well.
