1 Large Fennel bulb, trimmed, cored and very thinly sliced (about 3 1/2 C)
1 1/2 lbs all-purpose potatoes, peeled, and very thinly sliced (about 3 1/2 C)
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1 C heavy or whipping cream
1 clove garlic, crushed with side of knife
Pinch ground nutmeg
1/4 C freshly grated Parmesan cheese
